The image we usually have of trees is one of a clear stem with crown on top, which is how we find them presented to us in most nurseries. Why shouldn't parks and gardens have fully branched trunks?
Think about it.
Of course along paths and roads this could get impractical, traffic and branches: not a good combination. This is why trees with branchless 6 foot stem are usually chosen.
Soon the lower branches get in the way and more pruning works are "needed"... Most pruning work is done for the benefit of people, not the tree.
Most pruning is done for the benefit of man, not for the benefit of the trees in question.
Pruning is intervening in a tree’s life: you create a wound and reduce the vital leaf surface area. This is why, when pruning, we try to disturb the tree as little as possible, pruning only in the growth season, which is when the wounds heal quicker. We also only remove no more than 20% of the total leaf surface. We will also support the tree using an organic based fertilizer, getting the right minerals in the right place at the right time.
