Construction of bicycle paths!
New bicycle paths are being constructed. A noble aim, except for the fact that these 100 year old oaks are suffering because of it. The foundations are dug, right next to the roots, causing them irreparable damage. They could have moved the bicycle paths behind the trees; this would have been even safer for the cyclists and better for the trees.
We informed the council, but have not received an answer until the present day. A regrettable case for De Pinte’s non-green policy. Too bad for the devaluation of this Roman avenue…
If the roots are removed thus not being able to supply necessities, the corresponding branches stop growing and die.
