Left: this lime tree was heavily pollarded around 1995. The consequences were that the strain shot was a mess (a reaction of the tree to the pollarding, which basically means that the tree wants to compensate the loss of leaves by producing lots of branches in that place. This results in more dead word, diseases, etc.).
Right: same tree looking a lighter and airier, able to become a lime tree once more. Because we discovered a bit of rotting, we tend to keep an eye on it. After thinning, we administered the necessary minerals/compost after some soil research determined what the tree really needed.
